Antique Gold Jewellery CareAntique Gold Jewellery is quite tough and its care quite easy compared to many other jewellery materials. But before you jump in dunking your precious gold into jewellery dip or giving it 10 minutes in an ultrasonic machine there are a few things to consider:
Ok, you're sure your gold jewellery is fit for cleaningand there are no other materials in it which can get harmed along the way. Now you can choose how to proceed. Gold rings can be the toughest with lots of dirt trapped in the setting. Normally a soak in a jewellery dip you buy from the supermarket is the best way to proceed or in an ultrasonic machine with plenty of water and a few drops of washing up liquid. Do read the jewellery dip carefully and always follow the instructions and rinse carefully after use before patting dry. The same applies to ultrasonic machines.Gold plated, rolled gold and imitation gold jewellery should be cleaned with more caution. A wipe with a damp cloth may help followed by patting dry with a lint free cloth. You can buy jewellery cleaning cloths, these are much more gentle than jewellery dip and can be used occasionally on these metals.Following these guidelines should see your jewels safely bright and sparkly.
