Vintage Costume Jewellery Charms

Some of the most Charming Charms are made from materials other than Gold and Silver. These may be cheaper copies of their precious metal equivalents or quite unique and collectable pieces that are special in their own right. I have a particular like for glass charms as these it is rare to find these that have survived in tact.

 A very rare antique victorian charm - the first I have seen quite like this. It is similar to the mourning brooches having a central glass panel with a lock of hair inside. This antique charm measures just 1.4 cms diameter. The metal is gold toned not gold

I am sure that this would originally have been a charm although it is in the shape of a fob it is too small to have been used for that purpose. An original Victorian charm set with amethyst coloured glass at one end

 A lovely polished turquoise nugget forms this fob or charm . This is real turquoise matrix - the stone from which tiny turquoise gems are cut. This measures about 2 cms long and up to 2 cms long. It has been professionally drilled as a charm or fob not just a bail stuck on the top

 A very unusual old charm - probably a tribal carving but I have been unable to identify it. It seems to be carved from chrysoprase . It measures about 1.6 cms long

 This vintage costume jewellery charm has a picture set into each side. On one side of this charm is a picture of George V and on the other Jellicoe who was a famous Admiral in the first world war. From these two pictures we can be sure that this charm dates from the later 1910's. An excellent addition to any vintage costume jewellery charm bracelet

 I have to admit to knowing little about the age and origin of this charm It is made of Mother of pearl carved into the shape of a Kangaroo. From the loop fitting this is clearly a vintage item. This Kangaroo charm measures about 2.6 cms long

 A cute charm made by wedgwood and inset with green jasper sprigged with a classical goddess or Muse. This charm measures about 2.5 cms diameter and will date from circa 1970s. This charm is in excellent condition. It would make and excellent and colourful addition to any charm bracelet or could also be worn as a pendant
