Here's a rather special Antique Victorian brooch made of silver and set with seven agate cabochons. This brooch has a typical Scottish Celtic design which was made fashionable by Queen Victoria. This brooch measures almost 5 cms diameter and it fastens on the reverse with a strong C catch. This is quite an unusual design for a piece of Scottish jewellery and quite eye catching.

This sparkling brooch is set all over with garnets. There actually four rings, each of which set higher than the others to give a 3d effect. The garnets are set into silver which has a gold coloured wash to it. The brooch dates from the early 1900s and measures about 4.4 cms diameter.

A sparkling antique brooch which I think is meant to be a spray of flowers. This is made of silver and set with paste stones with a closed back setting. The pastes appear to be foiled behind with the largest having a black dot at the base - this indicates that the brooch is either Georgian or very early Victorian. Paste stones are the predecessors of today's diamante made of high quality glass.

Here is probably the oldest piece of jewellery Ive eve had although Im not sure of its real age. This is a penannular cloak pin or brooch which is a traditional piece of celtic jewellery. This penannular pin is made of silver ( Ive tested it there are no hallmarks). It has been handmade by a craftsman, clearly not a mass produced piece of jewellery. There is evidence that this pin has been worn for many years indicating that it is antique, pins like this are not unusually worn regularly these days. more ........

The back of this brooch is impressed "Made in England Sterling Silver PT 220213". The numbers refer to a patent number.

This superb fish brooch looks a lot more modern than it really is. This brooch is made of silver and has a full Victorian registration lozenge which dates the design of this brooch to 11 May 1883. Its always nice to find a registration lozenge on the brooch as the design can be dates so exactly.

A rather attractive hardstone pebble brooch from the Victorian era. The Victorians lovely all things natural and the unusual markings on this stone would have made it quite sought after . It is higher quality than normal pebble brooches as it has been set into gold rather than the unusual silver. The brooch measures about 4.2 cms long. The brooch fastens with a strong C catch and has an extended pin stem.
