This is interesting. A victorian daguerreotype and a brooch with another daguerreotype of the same gentleman. Unusually the couple look happy and are smiling. This is quite rare in one of these very early pictures. They will date from between the 1830s and the 1860s when these daguerreotypes were made.
The picture is in its original decorative case from C. Brown if 3 railway street in York. The hinge is worn so the back and front are in two parts otherwise in very good condition.
The brooch is rolled gold and is 1¾ inches high. Minor indentations in the reverse, otherwise in great condition.
