Stick Pins Lapel Pins
A quality selection of stick pins, lapel pins and tie pins mainly form the Victorian and edwardian times. These little pins are quite decorative and create a small point of interest. They are not big and showy like a brooch and are more usually worn by men than women. Most of these lapel pins and tie pins are made of silver or gold , some have gemstones as well. I will normally send out these stick pins with an appropriate keeper/ clutch to secure the point, this is unlikely to be original to the pin but will work well.

The stick pins you see here from AntiquesAvenue are all genuine vintage piece of jewellery. Stick designed tie pins were originally designed as cravat pins for gentleman but over the years they have been worn by ladies as well and are nowadays worn either a cravat pins, tie pins or lapel pins. These stick pins have a decorative final and a stick below this. The stick goes through the material with the decorative final laying flat against the material. The point end of the stick pin is then covered with a keeper ( sometimes known as a clutch).
Stick pins can be made of gold, silver or other metal. It is quite common to have the decorative part made of gold and other gemstones with the pin being gold plated metal. Gold is quite soft and so the gold plated pin is stronger in use than solid gold would be.
Look out for unusual finals on stick pins. Pearl are seen as a good standard stick pin and are very classy. Others chose a stick pin in the shape of their favourite animal or to show allegiance to a particular society . Stick pins are collected quite widely due to the range available.
