This is typical design from circa 1900. The belt is made of EPNS which is stamped into the reverse. This measures about 63 cms long and 3.2 cms wide - you need quite a trim waist to wear it. It would be very easy to detach the buckle to make your own belt from this antique.

This is an interesting dress accessory which shows how adaptable this type of item is. This originally started out life as a belt buckle, made of silver and fully hallmarked for 1897. At some stage in its life the buckle fittings have been removed from the reverse and it has had dress clip fittings added instead. Presumably this was adapted during the art deco era when dress clips were high fashion. These would have looked spectacular as they each measures 5 cms long and 4.3 cms wide

Vintage accessories look wonderful with todays clothing. Here is a striking belt buckle made of silver tone metal and enameled in black. You can add your own material to this to make a striking belt.
