Cameos were traditionally carved with classical scenes the most popular of these are those depicting Goddesses from Roman and Grecian mythology. Here is a choice of brooches depicting these Goddesses. All are carved from shell, in excellent condition and genuine antique brooches.
A. Goddess Flora in Gold
Here is the Goddess Flora beautifully carved as a cameo into shell and mounted in a nine carat gold frame. Flora is the Goddess of flowers and rules the season of spring. In this cameo she has lots of flowers in her hair. Look at her, she is much prettier than you see on many Victorian cameos and I believe that this is from the earlier 1900s. The frame has a wave style edge and the frame is stamped as nine ct. There is an attached safety chain. The brooch measures about 4.3 cms long and is very wearable.
C. Dianna and the Huntress
This came features Dianna the huntress, she has a quiver of arrows on her back and has shot a stag. This is mounted as a brooch in 800 silver. It measures 1¾ inches top to bottom and is in lovely condition.
