Genuine antique charms. These are mainly Victorian with a few Edwardian ones as well. Antique charms are made from a variety of material as well as the usual Silver and Gold. These include coral, mother of pearl, wood and hardstones of all type. These are all suitable for hanging from your antique charm bracelet. You could make your own antique charm bracelet by selecting a blank bracelet ( or wide linked albertina) and adding a few charms now and more special chamrs as you find them

The book measures about 2.4 cms high. This book is not hallmarked however it tests as silver

 A wonderful and rare Victorian antique charm which has been hand carved from bone . There is a lovely bacchanalian lady with flowing robes and grapes in her hair and in her basket. The carving is in high relief as you can see from the view of the side. This victorian charm measures about 2.5 cms long

A really cute antique gold charm in the shape of a jug. This charm is hollow just like a real jug would be. It is set on one side with two turquoise coloured stones and a pearl one. The charm is stamped 9ct on the base and as you can see int he picture it comes with an O ring attached ready to go onto your charm bracelet. This charm will be wither Victorian or Edwardian. It measures about 1.2 cms high.

Here is a set of three Victorian gold charms. These are a cross, an anchor and a heart. Together these stand for faith, hope and charity. The heart has full Chester hallmarks for 1898. These charms are of puffed construction and have tiny air holes which are part of the way they were made. The cross measures a little over 1 cms long. The heart is a little squashed on one side and so these antique charms are priced accordingly.

A rare and lovely old charm. This is in the shape of a glasses case inscribed "love is blind", it opens and inside is a miniature pair of glasses made of gold and with blue glass lenses. This charm tests as gold but it is not hallmarked. I believe that this is an older charm from the earlier 1900s. It measures a little over 2 cms long. The charm is lovely and smooth a very tactile piece of jewellery.

Heres a nice antique charm from the Victorian era. This charm is made of Whitby jet and is in the shape of a heart. The heart is set with a Chrystal on one side. It measures about 1.8 cms long and is in great condition especially considering that it is well over 100 years old now.

A great find for collectors of vintage book charms. This is made of silver and the front cover is stamped " The old masters". There is a little catch to open the book and inside is printed pictures of the old master paintings. These are The laughing cavalier, the blue boy, Mrs siddow, Mr lambton, lady at a spinet, age of innocence, Mona Lisa, portrait of a tailor. The pictures are printed in sepia and white. This charm measures about 1.6 cms high. I believe that it dates from the early 1900s. Considering its age it is in excellent condition. The catch and hinge work well and the pictures are all viewable and the words readable. The outer silver cover is a little worn smooth but considering the rarity of this piece nothing to worry about.

This Victorian charm is made of Whitby jet and is set centrally with a glittering sample of marcasite stone. One side of this charm is polished smooth . The front is set centrally with glittering marcasites, a polished ring surrounding that. Working outwards is next a textured ring and a further polished ring.

The charms here are antique dating from the Victorian era, Edwardian era up to circa 1920s. I have no evidence that the Victorians wore charms on charm bracelets as we do today although I believe that one charm would have been seen. Many of t he charms would have originally hung from necklaces, brooches and earrings. Antique Charms are available in a wide range of materials including the usual gold and silver but you can also find Jet, Glass and costume jewellery materials.
