Why buy Vintage Jewellery ?

There are several reasons why buying genuine vintage is better than new:

i) Selection.  The piece you have is much more likely to be unique. Older pieces tend to have a wide range of design and materials. These are not seen as new today and you cannot just go out and buy most of the pieces of jewellery you see here in a shop. There is less chance of someone else having the same piece of jewellery. I rarely ever have more than one of any piece and as soon as its sold the jewellery gets removed from the site.

ii) Quality.  Vintage jewelry was made in a range of qualities and weight just as jewellery is today. In general the better made pieces have survived . The average piece of jewellery was made in better quality that the pieces you often find today and has a heavier gold or silver content. The vast majority of antique and vintage jewellery was made in the UK and Europe where as today much is imported from Asian and the far east.

iii) Price and Investment. Much vintage jewellery can be found at a price less than new and it tends to hold its price better too.

IV) Collectible jewellery. Many folks collect by a theme such as charm bracelets, brooches, animal jewellery or earrings.
