AntiquesAvenue specialises in a quality range of antique jewellery and vintage jewellery including both costume jewellery and fine jewellery made from silver and gold. Brooches, rings, charms, pendants, necklaces and lockets of all types. There are also glass paperweights, antique tiles, porcelain miniatures and antique dress accessories. These date from antiques of the Georgian and Victorian eras through the vintage of art noveau, art deco to 1950s , 1960s and 1970s.

I am particularly fond of vintage silver jewellery however there is a also a nice selection of vintage gold jewellery and costume jewellery including cocktail rings and vintage brooches.

Antique Georgian Era ( including William IV) 1747 to 1837: Antique Georigian mourning pins and brooches - usually locket type brooches with a glass covered compartment at the front to hold a keepsake or lock of hair. These brooches can still be worn today ( although you may prefer to add a safety chain first as the pins are not as secure as we find on brooches these days) - they tend to be quite dainty and would suit a light weight fabric such as cotton rather than a heavy suit or coat.

Victorian Era (1837 to 1901) , Edwardian Era (1901 to 1910 ) and throughout 1920: A good range of Antique brooches including Mourning brooches made from Jet and other black materials including Gutta Percha and bog oak. Painted porcelain brooches and cameo brooches both are usually mounted in metal such as gold or silver. Silver brooches are features including Mizpah, name and Victorian and Edwardian sentimental pieces. Celtic , Scottish and pebble brooch jewellery made from silver and agate hardstones. I also try to find quality antique rings but only when they are at a reasonable price. Victorian Lockets are always desirable and I try to keep a few in stock at all times.

Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau and Art Deco Jewellery: (circa 1890 to 1940): the arts movements vintage jewellery is a favourite of mine, Silver and enamel is a stylish and colourful combination. Costume jewellery from this time is also most attractive - Brightly coloured glass bead necklaces especially those from Murano in Italy

The 1940s saw the introduction of bold cocktail jewellery pieces - bangles and brooches and of course cocktail rings.

1950s, 1960s and 1970s: The modernist era has produced some wonderful costume and fine jewellery and there are pieces by great designers when I can find them and I normally have a few nice pieces of vintage Scandinavian silver jewellery. I must mention at this point the stunning selection of antique charms and vintage charms and charm bracelets. I believe you will never find a better range of genuine silver vintage charm bracelets?

Antique Tiles:

I love antique and vintage tiles and try and keep a good selection available at all times. These include Antique Georgian Delft tiles, Victorian picture and flower tiles. There are some wonderful art nouveau tiles from the early 1900s and collectable art tiles from throughout the 20th century including Packard and Ord and possible they Internets best selection of Maw tile panels

Glass Paperweights:

British and European glass paperweights : what amazing little works of art these are - each is almost a jewel in itself. Most of my glass paperweights are from the Scotland and England ( Think Caithness, Perthshire, Wedgwood and Langham). There are also a wide variety of European glass paperweights including Murano. These are all genuine vintage glass paperweights or at least discontinued and no longer available in the normal shops. There are a few antique paperweights including Victorian glass Dumps and Victorian picture paperweights.

Antique and Vintage Accessories:

Vintage and antique personal and dress accessories - tiny and collectable. Many of these vintage accessories are made of silver including buttons, hatpins and silver compact.

Recently added some miniature silver boxes and photo frames which would make wonderful gifts.

Wedgwood and other Porcelain Miniatures:

Porcelain miniatures from England's best makers - all vintage and discontinued items. Wedgwood, Coalport, Shelley , Royal Crown Derby to name just four. I have miniature vases. cups and saucers, cottages, pin trays and porcelain trinket boxes. The miniature enamel box section is also worth a look with plenty of vintage items here too.
